how to check and set up a Daikin infrared remote
try two fresh AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries before assuming the handset has failed. a clear display does not show that the infrared signal or indoor receiver is working.
the linked ARC466A16-style handset is supplied without batteries and needs no programming on the listed models.

scope: match the complete indoor-unit model and old button/screen/sliding-cover layout. keep the receiver path clear and avoid strong light on it. do not open the indoor unit or change wiring if it still fails to respond.
steps
- replace the batteries
fit two fresh AAA alkaline batteries with the polarity shown in the compartment, then refit the cover. do not mix old and new batteries. keep batteries out of children's reach and check the display is clear.
- try a normal command
point the remote towards the indoor receiver with nothing blocking it. avoid strong light directly on the receiver. a clear remote display alone does not show that the receiver or air conditioner works.
- check a replacement
if the handset needs replacing, check the full indoor-unit model in the compatibility checker. compare the old remote's buttons, screen and sliding cover with the replacement.
- set up the handset
fit the required batteries and select the normal mode you want. if the indoor unit still does not respond, seek service. do not open the unit or change wiring.
