why does my dryer run while the drum stays still?
if the dryer can be heard running while the drum remains still, switch it off. the belt, motor, tensioner or drum supports may be involved; the sound alone does not confirm a snapped belt.
let it cool and disconnect safely. do not reach into a running dryer, bypass the door switch or run with covers off. give the repairer the full dryer-section model on a stacked appliance and any history of slipping or broken belts.
the linked guides cover distinct five-rib/four-groove D511255P-style and seven-rib PH/H 7PH1971 / 1971H7 belts. the 1971 marking is a nominal effective-length designation, not a tension setting. do not stretch a substitute belt or improvise a route. LEK37/LGK37 require qualified disassembly; WDH804N8SA requires authorised service with its flammable R290 heat-pump circuit intact. gas and stacked access need suitable arrangements.
