why does my dryer drum rumble, thump or drag?
rumbling, thumping or dragging can involve the drum supports or drive, but first check for loose contents and obvious installation concerns. noise alone does not identify a roller kit.
with the dryer off, unplugged and cool, inspect through the doorway only. do not move, unstack or open it, and never run with a panel removed to locate the sound. if noise persists, keep it disconnected for service.
the linked guides cover different support arrangements: a single 8077877028-style wheel on a sound shaft; an RB170002 rear roller-and-shaft kit for one drum; and W10314173-style rollers without shafts. confirm the dryer-section identity on stacked units and the number actually fitted. EDH903BEWA and WDH804N7WA require authorised service; keep heat-pump circuits intact. gas work and difficult stacked access also require suitable service.
first checks
- look through the doorway
check loose contents and note existing instability without moving the dryer. do not repeat abnormal running to reproduce the noise.
solutions
- how to check a dryer support-roller problemrecord the noise and let a technician check the roller, bearing and shaft. the single wheel includes its bearing but not an axle or securing hardware.
- how to identify a dryer roller-and-shaft kithave rear drum supports checked before choosing a kit. RB170002 serves one drum and contains two rollers with shafts and securing pieces.
- how to identify a dryer support-roller wheel setcheck wheels and shafts together before choosing the four-roller pack. the dryer may use fewer wheels, and shafts are not supplied.
