how to identify a seven-rib dryer drive belt
have the stopped drum and any earlier belt failures checked before ordering. the linked Hutchinson belt is marked 7PH1971 / 1971H7 and has seven ribs in the PH/H profile.
1971 mm is its nominal effective-length designation, not a tension adjustment. the motor and tensioner are not supplied.

scope: the technician must check the tensioner and drum supports and use the exact belt route. WDH804N8SA requires authorised service with its flammable R290 circuit intact. do not stretch a different belt to fit.

working on appliances can involve mains electricity, water and moving parts. always disconnect power and water before you start. in Australia, gas work must be done by a licensed gasfitter, and fixed (hard-wired) electrical work by a licensed electrician. everything on this site is guidance only, and any repair you carry out is at your own risk. we are not responsible for any damage or injury caused by attempting a repair. if you are not confident, please use a qualified technician.

steps
- stop the dryer
if the drum will not turn normally, switch off, let it cool and disconnect power safely. do not run it with covers off to watch the belt.
- give the repairer details
check the full model and product-number revision on the product page. describe the stopped drum and any earlier belts that slipped or broke. have the technician compare the complete old belt marking and rib count.
- have the drive checked
ask the technician to check the belt, tensioner and drum supports, then follow the exact belt route. the length marking is not a tension setting. do not stretch another belt to fit or handle spring-loaded drive parts yourself.
- have the repair checked
the technician should check the belt seating and normal drum operation with the cabinet closed. more slipping needs another check.
