how to check a fridge light before replacing a globe
rule out a light setting or timeout before checking whether your fridge has a replaceable globe.
- repair type
- owner care
- difficulty
- easy
- hands-on time
- ~ 10 min
scope: change a globe only if your manual permits it. integrated leds need service.
when to get help
- for an led assembly, a cover you cannot safely remove, broken glass or a light that still fails, arrange service. do not open the cabinet or inspect door wiring.
steps
- check the normal light settings
close the door and check the manual's door-open timeout before checking the light again. look for a setting that disables lighting, and check cooling separately.
- change a globe only as instructed
if your manual permits the change, unplug before removing the lamp cover. fit the specified appliance globe, refit the cover and then restore power. do not choose a substitute just because it looks like the old globe.
