why is the fluorescent tube in my insect killer not lighting?
a fluorescent tube that stays dark may have failed, but its lamp circuit can cause the same symptom. keep the protective cage closed and arrange a service assessment.
record whether one tube or both stopped lighting and read only the accessible external model label. do not reach through the cage, touch the high-voltage grid or open the unit to read the tube markings. disconnect the appliance and keep it out of use while awaiting the check.
the linked tube guide explains the information a repairer needs. the Birko offer contains two 18 W T8 uv tubes with G13 ends and no starters; tube replacement is not a repair to the grid. Birko 1004103 requires a service agent or recommended qualified technician for tube replacement. the correct model, tube length, ends and rating still need confirming. a tube lighting again does not measure its uv output or establish pest-control effectiveness.
first checks
- record what was visible
use what you already observed about one or both tubes and the external model. do not switch repeatedly or remove the guard to investigate.
