why does the fluorescent tube in my insect killer keep flickering?
a tube that flickers instead of lighting steadily does not identify the starter as the failed part. the tube or ballast may also need assessment.
note what you already saw and the external model number, then switch off and unplug the insect killer. keep hands and tools outside the protective case. do not repeatedly switch it on to reproduce the fault or open it to photograph a starter.
the linked starter guide explains what a repairer must distinguish before replacing anything. the WFS-2 offer is a two-pack of starters, not uv tubes, marked 4-25 W and 100-240 V. WFS-2 appears on differently rated starters, so the code alone is insufficient: the repairer must compare the lamp-wattage and voltage markings too. the Birko 1004101/1004103 service restriction remains applicable.
first checks
- record the starting behaviour
tell the repairer whether the tube flickered or stayed dark and provide the external model. use an existing internal photo only if one is already available.
