why won't my Chef electric oven start heating?
a Chef electric oven may not heat because its controls are incorrectly set or its fitted clock remains in auto mode. interrupted power is another possibility.
model scope: for Chef electric ovens; the auto-mode check applies where a clock is fitted.
keep cooking knobs off while checking the timer and use that clock's own instructions to return to manual cooking where appropriate. there is no single button sequence for all Chef clocks.
the linked settings guide covers selecting the cooking function and temperature and checking the normal wall switch or an apparent household power interruption. do not remove the oven to inspect wiring. if power repeatedly trips or fuses keep blowing, leave it off and arrange electrical service rather than repeated resets. continued failure after correct settings also needs assessment; this electric-oven advice is not a gas-ignition procedure.
first checks
- check the fitted controls
read the clock and cooking instructions for your exact model; apply auto-mode checks only if that clock is present.
possible causes
- clock in auto mode
- cooking controls not set or power unavailable
