why does my vacuum's telescopic tube keep slipping shorter?
a dented wand or worn telescopic lock can make the extension tube jam or slip shorter. check both ends too, because the loose connection may be on the handle or floor head.
switch off and unplug before inspecting the normal release buttons and visible damage. do not force catches or modify a tube that does not lock.
the linked guide concerns a complete 10615280 non-electric wand with 35 mm click-lock ends, not a separate lock button, hose or head. if the existing wand has electrical contacts for a powered brush, this is a different replacement requirement. Guard EasySlide, HES mid-size and X(HES) require exact parts lookup. confirm the full model and both connections rather than choosing by diameter alone. a broken adjoining catch needs its own repair.
first checks
- check for electrical contacts
with power disconnected, compare both ends and the length lock. stop selection if the old tube carries contacts for a powered brush.
