why does my LG WV9 washing machine show dE2 with the door shut?
on the four documented LG WV9 front loaders, dE2 is a door warning even when the door appears shut. appearance alone does not confirm that the hook has engaged or the lock is working.
model scope: LG WV9-1410B, WV9-1410W, WV9-1412W and WV9-1412B front-load washing machines.
this article covers WV9-1410B, WV9-1410W, WV9-1412W and WV9-1412B. check for trapped clothing only with the appliance off, still and safely unlocked. do not force a door that remains locked or keep slamming one that will not engage.
an obstruction, damaged latch, alignment problem or electrical sensing fault needs distinguishing before a part is selected. the linked electrical-switch guide and mechanical-hook guide are separate assessments, not two interchangeable cures for dE2.
record the full model and visible symptoms for the technician. the electrical switch requires the correct keyed plug and mounting; the hook kit does not include that switch. leave contacts, plugs, springs and internal access intact and never hold or join contacts to defeat the lock.
possible causes
- an obstruction preventing full engagement
- a bent or damaged door latch
- an electrical door-sensing or locking fault
solutions
- how to check a laundry door-lock switch problemcheck trapped clothing and the visible hook before assuming an electrical lock fault. four contacts alone cannot identify the correct switch.
- how to check a washer door hook and return springcheck the visible mechanical hook without taking the door apart. the hook, spring and pin kit is separate from the electrical door lock.
