why doesn't my washing machine recognise that the door is shut?
a door that looks closed may still have trapped clothing, a damaged hook, misalignment or an electrical lock fault. those possibilities need separating before choosing a switch.
with the appliance off, completely still and safely unlocked, check only the visible doorway and hook. move trapped clothing inside and close normally; stop if the hook or door is damaged. never force a locked door, join contacts, hold a switch closed or alter its plug.
the linked guide explains assessment of the EBF61315801-style electrical switch, which does not include the mechanical hook. four contacts alone do not identify the part: the keyed plug and mounting must match too. give the technician the full appliance identity and, on a stacked unit, the affected section. WD1013NDW and WD1013NDE require qualified servicing.
first checks
- check only a safely unlocked door
with the washer off and still, look for trapped fabric and visible hook damage without operating the switch by hand.
