why is my top-loading washing machine filling slowly or not filling?
if a top loader fills slowly or loses either hot or cold filling, start with the water supply. record which supply is affected and which cycle you selected.
a closed tap or a kink in an already-visible inlet hose can resemble a valve fault. compare the same cycle with its usual behaviour: different cycles do not necessarily use the same amount of water. do not pull the connected washer out or remove its covers to investigate.
if accessible supply checks do not explain the change, the linked inlet-valve guide helps you prepare for a technician's diagnosis. the valve is a 220-240 V ac assembly; matching the appliance's actual valve voltage and mounting matters. a 110-120 V valve is not an alternative. stop using a washer that leaks or fills uncontrollably and close the taps from a safe position.
first checks
- compare the two supplies
check that accessible hot and cold taps are open and record whether one supply or both are affected.
- inspect visible hoses
look for a kink without moving the machine. leave hose disconnection, covers and wiring to the repairer.
