why does my Westinghouse top-loading washing machine show E10?
on Westinghouse WWT8040, WWT1020A, WWT1154DCWA and WWT1254LCWA, E10 can report poor filling or loss of water during washing. it is not simply a cold-valve failure code.
model scope: Westinghouse WWT8040, WWT1020A, WWT1154DCWA and WWT1254LCWA top-load washing machines.
check both taps and the visible inlet hoses without pulling out the connected washer or disconnecting a hose for a flow test. compare the visible drain arrangement with the exact model's installation instructions, because water may escape through that route.
if water reaches the floor, stop use, close both taps and unplug only from a dry safe point. record the cycle, whether one or both supplies are affected and any visible leakage.
the linked cold-valve guide is a professional assessment after supply, drainage and leakage causes are distinguished. its triple cold assembly is separate from the hot valve and remains subject to exact model, suffix and product-number checks. continued uncontrolled filling or leakage means leave the washer off.
possible causes
- a restricted supply or inlet screen
- water loss through the drain arrangement
- a leak or internal filling fault
