why does my dryer's empty-water reminder stay on?
on a condenser or heat-pump dryer, an empty-water reminder may return if the tank is full, not seated or water cannot reach its intended drain. an empty tank alone does not prove the collection system is working.
model scope: condenser and heat-pump dryers with a water tank or drain hose.
stop the dryer as its manual directs before withdrawing the tank. keep it level, empty it and slide it fully back into place. do not remove it mid-cycle if the model prohibits that.
if the dryer uses direct drainage, switch off and inspect only visible hose for kinks or trapping. keep the outlet arranged as the model's installation guide specifies, and leave concealed fittings connected. the linked tank-and-hose guide does not involve internal pump access.
if the reminder returns with an empty seated tank and a clear visible hose, arrange service. stop using the dryer for water leakage. these checks apply to condenser and heat-pump water-collection systems, not vented dryers without that system.
possible causes
- the tank is full or not fully seated
- the external drain hose is kinked or trapped
- a fault in the internal water collection system
