why does my Philips OneUp mop pad or tank smell after use?
dirt and moisture left in the original pad or tanks of a Philips OneUp XV3101/01 or XV5113/01 can cause odours in storage. clean those parts separately and let them dry before refitting.
model scope: Philips OneUp XV3101/01 and XV5113/01 with their original pads and tanks.
switch off and disconnect charging before using the documented foot release. do not pull the cloth away from its plastic connectors. the linked care guide distinguishes original-pad washing from tank and lid rinsing.
for the original pad, rinse without wringing or use its specified machine-wash method. dry naturally with the fabric side up; do not tumble-dry. empty and rinse tanks and lids with water only, keeping water out of the powered body. refit the dry parts and engage the head on the pad connectors as instructed.
do not transfer these washing rules to another or aftermarket pad. broken connectors, battery damage, leakage into the body or persistent odour after correct care needs support rather than detergent added to the tanks.
possible causes
- dirt or used water was left in the pad or tanks
- the cleaned parts were stored before they dried
