why is food freezing near the vents in my Westinghouse WTM fridge?
high-water-content food near a cooling vent can freeze in the fresh-food compartment of a Westinghouse WTM3100, WTM3400, WTM4302 or WTM5002. check food placement and the fridge setting before assuming a control has failed.
model scope: Westinghouse WTM3100, WTM3400, WTM4302 and WTM5002 top-mount fridges.
move sensitive food away from the cooling vents and keep those vents clear. suitable fruit and vegetables can go in the crisper. if the whole compartment is too cold, use the model's temperature instructions to select a less-cold setting, then allow it to settle before judging the result.
the linked food-position guide also covers door clearance on this top-mount family: food must stay behind the freezer-floor ribs so the top door can close properly. these instructions are not transferred to other Westinghouse ranges or Electrolux-branded models.
if food still freezes away from the vents, or a door will not seal, arrange service. do not remove interior panels or disturb the refrigerant circuit to look for a sensor.
