why is my vacuum cleaner not picking up properly?
reduced vacuum pickup can start with a restriction between the floorhead and filters. a bag or bin needing attention, blocked detachable airway or dirty filter is worth checking before assuming motor failure.
switch off and unplug, or use the removable-battery isolation method specified by the manual. check normal hose, wand and head connections for reachable debris without pushing rods through them. leave powered hoses assembled.
the linked airflow guide explains emptying a bin or seating the correct new bag. do not reuse a disposable bag or force its compartment closed. only wash filters marked washable and let them dry completely; replacement-only exhaust filters need different care.
if pickup is poor because the brush has stopped, use the separate linked roller guide. continued overheating, inaccessible blockage or poor suction after appropriate maintenance needs service. do not dismantle the motor or battery.
possible causes
- the bag or bin needs emptying or replacement
- a filter is clogged
- the hose, wand or floorhead is obstructed
solutions
- how to check a vacuum cleaner's air path, bag and filterscheck ordinary detachable airways for reachable debris, then empty the bin or seat the correct bag. each filter has its own cleaning or replacement requirements.
